Work Plan
CLD Standards Council – Work Plan
Our purpose is to work with the sector to establish and maintain high standards of practice in CLD across Scotland – but what are we actually doing? Below you will find our work plan, detailing the key activities we are taking forward. We have divided it into sections to show which of our committees is taking the lead on a particular item.
Approval
- Continue approval of training programmes
We support the process from enquiry to visit, and publicise newly approved programmes through our website and e-newsletter.
- Rewrite Guidelines for the approval of training programmes
The guidelines will be subjected to a thorough consultation and trial before we roll them out to the field.
- Promote individual recognition procedures
We will keep you up-to-date with the Joint Education and Training Standards Committees position.
- Stimulate debate around practice-based learning
We aim to provoke and sustain a debate about how we learn in CLD.
- Convene a network of trainers
We will review existing networks of support and identify how trainers link to our developing CPD framework.
CPD
- Develop a national workforce development strategy statement
We are drafting a statement based on the input from our committees.
- Develop a national CPD framework
Linked to the strategy statement, we are developing a skeleton for the framework.
At all stages, both strategy statement and framework will be widely consulted on before any final decisions are made so look out for the opportunity to join in!
- Develop supported induction models
Linked to the CPD framework, we will discuss widely what type of induction will be most effective for employers and practitioners.
Registration
- Define a model of registration
Following deliberation and debate prompted by existing models from other sectors, a considered proposal for registration of CLD practitioners will be put forward for consultation.
- Start a debate on ethics in CLD
We will facilitate a national debate on the values, principles and ethical behaviour relating to CLD.
Executive
- Promote and support the use of the refreshed CLD competences
The formal launch of the competences is scheduled for Spring 2010; we will deliver support packages for practitioners, employers and training providers.
- Ensure volunteers’ voices are heard in all debates
We will talk directly to volunteers, not their advocates, to ensure their contributions are heard.
- Develop relationships with key stakeholders
We will build positive working relationships with training providers, the Scottish Government and other key organisations to ensure we fulfil our purpose.
- Organisation and administration
We will facilitate regular events where you can contribute to and influence our work. We will also facilitate the anticipated relocation to LLUK.
- Communications
Through a variety of channels, including our website and e-newsletter, we will keep you up-to-date on our work and developments in the field.
