Tanveer Parnez
Tanveer Parnez is Director of National Development at BEMIS (Black and Ethnic Minority Infrastructure in Scotland) and a member of the Standards Council Executive Committee. Being part of the Council is important to her because it ensures there is an active values base for practitioners and has created a forum for professional debate, as well as looking at the development aspect, the framework and the structures of CLD.
Tanveer believes that the CLD approach is one that really teaches and engages with communities, involving communities at various levels and addressing their needs which sets the scene for policy intervention. She argues that the framework and structure of CLD underpins the whole value systems of civic society. "It brings communities together and caters for all equality strands; there is no one size fits all. CLD is for young, old, volunteers, academics and hard to reach disadvantaged communities - it is for all, ensuring equality and fairness throughout its process and framework."
