Steve Mallon
Steve is the Council Secretary for Mission and Discipleship at the Church of Scotland and a member of our Executive Committee. He wanted to be part of the Standards Council because he felt it offered a great opportunity for the sector to value itself more than it does and to be valued more by others: "It puts the CLD profession on a similar footing to other professional groups which is important to the individuals who work in it and also to those who work in other fields. As a former school-teacher I am well aware of the way that profession can view CLD and other staff!"
Steve believes that successful communities are the ones where people are good neighbours and work together for the common good. Therefore we need ordinary men and women around the country to get alongside individuals and communities and help them to dream and work towards a better way of life. If there were more of that happening in Scotland, it would be a better place to live; we need to use CLD approaches to bolster our struggle to be aspirational and hopeful.
