Stephen McLaughlin

Stephen McLaughlin is the Manager of the North Ayrshire Volunteer Centre. He became involved in CLD after enjoying many years of voluntary youth work and he continues to be inspired by the impact he sees CLD having on individuals and communities. He believes that CLD has become one of the key processes through which those at the edge of society can be given hope and expectation that things can improve, not just by waiting, but by acting and, with the support of members of our workforce, change can be brought about.

Stephen joined the Standards Council because he believes that for too long we, as a profession, have toiled unrecognised in the dark; the Council can shine a light on our good practice and show fellow professions where and how we contribute to the success of communities and therefore Scotland as a whole. Given that CLD features in many different organisations and places, the Standards Council also provides a focal point for our profession and can give a national voice to a varied, disparate group of professionals.
