Kirstine Sloan
Kirstine is an Area Tutor Organiser for WEA Scotland and a member of our Executive Committee. She believes the Standards Council can provide a clarity about the skills and knowledge required of CLD practitioners, and allow workers to have on-going opportunities to improve and develop their competence as social and learning needs change. She wanted to become part of it to make her experience count in planning a positive future for all in CLD.
Kirstine believes CLD is important to Scotland because it promotes collective learning, co-operation and the common good. Without it, people who face barriers to learning would be left behind; she believes this would be unjust as she has witnessed first hand the positive changes that being involved in adult learning can have in raising spirits and improving life chances, socially and economically.
