Duncan Simpson

DuncanS WebDuncan Simpson is Community Services Manager at Fife Council and the Chair of the Standards Council. He has occupied a number of national CLD roles including Chair of CeVe; Chair of the LLUK CLD Advisory Group; Vice-Chair of CLDMS, and Board Member for LLUK. He currently sits on the Curriculum for Excellence Board and the LLUK Scotland Panel.

He started out in CLD through voluntary youth work and has been involved in the development of the Standards Council since the original training review. As a result he is determined to see it through to its conclusion - becoming a fully established and recognised body that is delivering on its three priorities.

Duncan believes the Standards Council should be a forum to recognise and celebrate our shared values, and provide quality assurance for our own learning and development. We are a unique group; the diverse strands of CLD unite to create a whole greater than the sum of the parts. He wants to see the Standards Council instil the CLD workforce with the confidence and self-esteem held by other comparable professions; he believes we are a fundamental ingredient in building the communities, society and country we aspire to live in.
