Aileen Ackland
Aileen Ackland is a lecturer in the School of Education at the University of Aberdeen. She joined the Standards Council because she cares deeply about the future of CLD; she believes that it is our job to make sure social justice is a live priority in our society, not just an empty rhetoric. The CPD committee was a natural home for her because of her extensive experience in facilitating and researching professional development.
From a starting point in social work, Aileen moved into CLD after realising that many of the challenges people faced were not individual but societal. She wants to see the Standards Council establish a voice for CLD which expresses the values and aspirations of the sector and allows us to influence policy as well as implementing it.
