Degree level programmes

The Bachelor of Arts and the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) programmes are at SCQF Level 9 and 10 respectively, and are offered by the university sector.

The programme is delivered full-time over three or four academic years and is available at some universities in a part-time or workplace based format. The curriculum has a focus on sociology, social policy, humanistic psychology, research and evaluation, management practice, and learning technologies as well as traditional elements of community learning and development such as studies in work with young people, adult learning and community development/regeneration.

In some cases there may be an opportunity to focus studies to achieve a named award in one of the CLD areas. There are periods of supervised fieldwork practice which will account for 40% of the overall programme.

Normally graduates require to be 21 years of age on completion. See programmes professionally approved by the Standards Council.
